Prerequisite: Successful completion of Math 7. This course addresses concepts of linear algebra, such as number properties, solving and graphing linear equations and finding a line of best fit. It also includes being able to identify rational and irrational numbers and working with the Pythagorean Theorem.
Some topics included in Math 7 are introduction to patterns, geometry, measurement, probability, introduction to algebraic expressions and equations. However, the main emphasis of the class is on rational numbers, fractions, decimals, percents, ratios, proportions, how they work and how they are interconnected. The goal for this class is for all students to achieve a "meets" or "exceeds" score on the state MCA test in the spring.
