Dear Students;
I am so excited to have you in my class. You have been specially selected to be part of my new third grade. I have heard that you are some of the hardest workers and that you like having fun to help you learn. So get ready to experience a year full of exciting learning.

I hope you like to read because we will be reading a lot. If you do not like to read, I promise you that before the year is over you will enjoy reading a variety of things. You will never pick up a book again and see it as just a boring book. You will see it as a world you can travel too.

Now please keep in mind that I never said third grade was going to be easy; I just said it’s going to be a lot of fun. In third grade, you will learn many things. Some of the things you will learn is how to write in cursive, read for understanding, multiply, divide, geometry, and even solve fraction problems. It's definitely going to be different than second grade because you no longer are primary, you are now an intermediate student. You are the big boys and girls. So be ready because third grade will be a challenge, but with my guidance you will succeed.

I am sure you have heard that it is also a testing grade. Well, yes, that is true. In third grade, you will have to take one of the biggest tests you have ever taken so far. However, no need to worry, I will teach you everything you need to know so you can do well on your test. All I ask of you is to come ready to learn and make an effort to do your best.

Well now that you know a little about what to expect in third grade, I cannot wait to meet you. Relax; I'll let you in on a little secret "I am also excited and nervous to meet you too."
See you soon!
Sincerely,
Your New Third Grade Teacher,
Mrs. Jensen
